Bunu Qaynarinfo-ya açıqlamasında sabiq MTN əməkdaşı İlham İsmayıl deyib. Onun sözlərinə görə, 2015-ci ildən bu yana nə qədər cinayətlər baş versə də, Eldar Mahmudov faktiki olaraq bir-iki dəfə istintaqa cəlb olunub:

"İzahat alınıb, vəssalam. Ona görə başqa məsələlər də ola bilər. Həbs olunanlar İstintaq Baş İdarəsinin rəisi olub, biri isə Hərbi Əks-Kəşfiyyat İdarəsinin rəisidir. Hərbidə baş verən cinayətlər, xüsusi ilə də son vaxtlar "Tərtər işi” ilə əlaqədar zamanında bu neqativ hallara, cinayət əməllərinə hansısa qarşılıqlı şəkildə ordu ilə birlikdə göz yumublar. Göz yumduqlarına görə cinnayət baş verib və o, indi üzə çıxır”.

İlham İsmayılın fikrincə, bu istintaq ərəfəsində yeni həbslər, yeni cinayətlər üzə çıxa bilər:

"Bu, tamamilə mümkündür. Ən əsası da sabiq MTN naziri Eldar Mahmudov da hədəfdə ola bilər” .
