88 yaşında vəfat edən katolik dünyasının ruhani lideri və Vatikan Dövlətinin Başçısı Papa Fransiskin 24 mayda Türkiyəyə gəlməsi və İznik Məclisinin 1700 illik yubiley tədbirlərində iştirak etməsi planlaşdırılırdı. Lakin vəfatı bu səfərin reallaşmamasına səbəb olub.

Qaynarinfo xəbər verir ki, İstanbul Latın Katolik Cəmiyyətinin Yepiskopu və Papalıq vəkili Massimiliano Palinuro CNN Türk-ə verdiyi müsahibədə bu səfərlə bağlı prosesi açıqlayıb:

"Normalda 24 mayda Papa buraya gələcəkdi. Və Papa son ana qədər bu səfəri ləğv etmək istəmədi. Vatikandan bu səfəri hazırlamaq üçün nümayəndə heyətinin gələcəyi gözlənilirdi - bir kardinal və 14 köməkçisi Türkiyə dövləti ilə görüşüb bu səfəri təşkil edəcəkdi".

Papalıq vəkili bildirib ki, Papa Fransiskin səfəri də prezident Rəcəb Tayyib Ərdoğanın dəvəti əsasına həyata keçəcəkdi. O, prezidentin Papaya xüsusi dəvətnamə göndərdiyini vurğulayıb.

"İznikdə dövlət tərəfindən xüsusi hazırlıq işləri aparılır. İznik Məclisinin arxeoloji sahəsi turistlər və ziyarətçilər üçün hazırlansın deyə xüsusi tədbirlər görülür".

Palinuro əlavə edib ki, yeni Papa seçildikdən sonra dövlət tərəfindən yenidən dəvət edilsə, şübhəsiz ki, buraya gələcək və beləliklə, yeni Papa ilk rəsmi səfəri Türkiyəyə edəck.
